WJHM is way closer to CHR than Urban Contemporary.

No kidding.. In the past hour they played Gotye, One Direction, Rita Ora, Maroon 5, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Wanted, and Jesse J.. At this point they're pretty much CHR with a slight rhythmic lean.

The market is 40% Hispanic and African-American. Generally those listeners have zero interest in Classic Rock.

WHTQ may have done OK in-demo, but it was the lowest rated FMin the market with a full-coverage signal.

Clearly, if you want to know the "true" demo of your area, then look at the number of Spanish and other stations, regarless of what the stated Govt. figures are.

Radio always seems to be ahead of the curve, when it comes to the "real" demo of an area.

The 1996 Telecom Act is somewhat responsible for the lack good FM Rock stations. While the music is "good" there are just more bodies in the area, that like "other" music. And catering to the lowest common denom is what radio is really all about. Delivering quailty Rock music is the least of their concerns, no matter what there promos may state.

Destroying culture.... Big Business has got that down to an art !!!  Sad

It's more CHR but VERY weird when they play some gangsta rap song that nobody has ever heard.   Just weird, don't mess up a good thing (CHR) and confuse your listeners.... Angry

They need to be YOUNGER Than their HOT A/C Mix 105.1 yet 105.1 needs to be younger than their CLASSIC HITS 105.9 I think if I were CBS I'd either Position 101.9 as a True URBAN and Super serve the 18-44ish Black Audience that is not likely going to share listening with their HOT A/C but may share some Older or At Work Demos with WCFB,or go totally after CC and Launch an Alt Rocker to challange JRR or go after COX and launch a HOT COUNTRY Format and try to bring down K-92FM or K92.3 or whatever their calling themselves today.
