More Cox downsizing

Now, the less-than-good news -- Cox Media Tampa has undergone some senior-level management restructuring, which has resulted in the exit of VP/GM Wendi Power. VP/Market Manager Keith Lawless will now oversee the cluster solo. Apparently CMG Tampa was the company's only remaining cluster that still had a dual VP/GM and VP/Market Manager system in place, and the obvious redundancy made this move almost inevitable. The company is reportedly looking for another management position that will make use of Power's many valuable skills.

Word has it that in markets where they have TV and radio they will go to ONE manager and the odds are on it being the TV person running the show.  Radio people and radio in general have been relegated to a second-tier in Cox.  Also if any market is "only radio" you can bet they are looking to unload no matter the market size.

"On Life Support". That's exactly how I described the AJC when I posted this info on the Atlanta forum. Cox radio had problems before the formation of the Cox Media group, but the constant changes in upper ranks and having all divisions essentially watered down has been humorous and a quite sad to watch.  Another broadcasting company dies.  Wonder what the Governor would think?

I am seeing Radio across the board barely resembling what it did around 1980 when I first got into the business the Company where I work who shall remain nameless has started piling so much work on those of us who remain it's a joke,early retirement is looking more & more appealing to me.I see 5-10 years out it is only going to be fewer positions remaining with an increasing workload.

Stupid management and ownership have destroyed radio.  Then these idiots have the audacity to blame talent and listeners!  If listeners don't get what they want...they go elsewhere.  Stupid management/ownership won't give listeners what they want.  The listeners are therefore GONE!  Throw "LOCAL" out the window...if you play music have a 200 song playlist...bring in by satelite (because its cheap) the same tired, worn out left vs. right BS so that every broadcast minute sounds the same...then cry and stomp your feet because your listeners have gone to the internet or other devices and then blame THEM because YOU drove them away!  The wonderfull world of broadcast stupidity, alive and well in 2012.
