Galena, Alaska GM & wife believed dead in house fire
« on: June 23, 2012, 09:04:59 PM »

A Friday night house fire in Galena, Alaska is believed to have killed KIYU general manager Terry Fair (air name:  "Shadow Steel") and his wife, Kim.  Neighbors say an explosion rocked the house at about 9pm and it was quickly engulfed in flames.  Fair had left the station about two hours earlier.  The couple's cars were in the driveway suggesting both were at home.  Two bodies were found in the ruins but no positive identification yet.  Galena Fire Chief Tim Bodony says the presumption in the village of 500 people is that the couple died in the fire.  Bodony once worked with Fair at KIYU and previously worked as a volunteer at KNOM (AM/FM) in Nome.
