WHRO FM 1920s network on low power fm station in Virginia Beach

WHRO FM  digital 3  1920s Network  (which has alot of 1940s music and radio shows) is now on a low power station at 99.3 in Virginia Beach.

 Interesting. I wonder who they are trying to capture as listeners? Most of the Beach and surrounding area are not of that era. Maybe just a grab of a LPFM they can hold onto until they find a better use? That's my vote.

There are some retired people in Virginia Beach since the weather is moderate and the cost of living is low compared to up north.  Plus retired people can drive back north to visit relatives instead of taking a plane.   I would think most of the music is in public domain so that might be why they decided to use that programming.  They play music up through the 50s so I wonder why it is called the 20s Network?  Maybe some other company uses the 30s  or  40s Network slogan?

If WHRO was REALLY serious about 99.3, they'd wouldn't run The 20's Net on it...  Way too much of a niche format... I hear 101.7 is moving soon.  Once that happens, MAYBE a final format lands on those two signals?  Speakeasy??

Some of the songs on the 20s network are real scratchy.....I hear some adobe software can clean that up, wonder why they don't use it?
