WWNU bailing on soft AC/standards
« on: June 26, 2012, 01:38:53 PM »

WWNU Columbia, SC becomes AAA "The Palm" this Friday. I haven't listened to WWNU lately because the stream hasn't been of the best quality the last few times I've tuned in. Still, sad to see it go by the wayside...

Well, the ship sunk at 5 PM today. Last song is exactly my feelings: "What could have been" by Little Texas was the last song on Carolina 92.1. That station could have been great, but double O radio... They just didn't care.

Double O "didn't care" due because they were selling the station (plus Classic Country sister WWNQ) to new ownership after taking a serious financial loss in order to get both stations on the air.

Speaking of which, another station had bailed out of Lite AC this weekend (and a longtime one at that). WLYT in Charlotte, NC is now "102.9 The Lake" with a Variety Hits format.
