By Noon on Thursday we'll know for sure - just have to test 'em both!

FWIW, a new CBS Boston story (http://boston.cbslocal.com/2012/06/27/cbs-radio-launches-amp-103-3-new-top-40-station-in-boston) mentions the shorter domain.

Also, a new Billboard report (http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/record-labels/new-boston-top-40-is-fourth-cbs-clear-channel-1007442752.story) says that this would be the fourth time that CBS has launched a mainstream CHR station to compete with a CC-owned one (in addition to NYC, LA, and Detroit).  I'm thinking, though, that San Diego also counts (CBS's Energy 103.7 vs. CC's Channel 93.3).

When they tried this with WHTT, they didn't blow up an established heritage radio station to do it, they were up against a much more loosely run Kiss 108, and Jam'n 94.5 didn't exist. and they STILL failed. This will go down as a massive blunder.

They did this with WCBS-FM only to restore it a couple of years later.

WZOU(Zoo) was already on the air for a few months when WHTT came on.

WHTT redux vs. KISS with 94.5 as wingman.  Yep...

Unfortunately they wouldn't be able to get the WHTT calls as they're used on a Cumulus station in Buffalo now Smiley What about WBMP or WBPP? Better yet, why not let the FCC decide? After all, it worked for WYJB and WDZH Smiley

Probably right where they are right now.  The call-letters on a station like the new AMP are usually hidden at the top of the hour.  The WODS format (what's left of it) will still be on 103.3 HD2 and on line.  If they do decide to park WODS somewhere else, there's simply nowhere for them to go. Who knows?

I wouldn't be surprised if they let the WODS call letters go.  The only reason to have them is the passing resemblance to the word "Oldies" - they're a clunky set of calls for a DJ to say over and over.  Many in Boston still know it as "Oldies 103".  When the switch is made back to oldies/classic hits, they'll probably call it "Boston's 103.3" as they won't be married to unattractive calls with limited listener loyalty.
