Unfortunately they wouldn't be able to get the WHTT calls as they're used on a Cumulus station in Buffalo now  What about WBMP or WBPP? Better yet, why not let the FCC decide? After all, it worked for WYJB and WDZH well unless cbs already has a new set of calls ready to go which we will hear at noon tomorrow, it's gonna be wods for a bit, will sound weird! the other amp stations? besides detroit? they all have some form of amp in the calls? i'm going off memory here lol Here's what I can dig up quickly about some of CBS's other halfway-recent CHR launches (see also the above post)... San Francisco (Now) -- Calls are still KMVQ; however, in this case, the station did more of a segue from Rhythmic AC (as Movin') to a full CHR than an outright flip. Houston (Hot) -- Calls were changed to KKHH. San Diego (Energy) -- Calls were changed to KEGY. Sacramento (Now) -- Calls are still KZZO; however, this is another case of more of a segue than an outright flip (and the station may be more Hot AC than CHR). |

I don't know who is doing the morning show for CBS's top-40 WXRK-92.3 ("Now") in New York, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if 103.3 (whatever call letters it gets) simulcasts it.
That could save a lot of money.
On the other hand, how about a "Maximum Hitz" morning show with reduced commercials and little (if any) talk/news/weather/traffic??
Current 92~3 Now New York lineup consists of: Mornings: Lil Cee & Sarah Lee Middays: Eutopia Afternoons: Micki Gamez Nights: Zann Late Nights: DJ Toro or other jocks/weekenders I don't think they'll simulcast - if Nick Cannon was still there...maybe. The current morning show is just trying to find their sea legs for "Now" (pun intended  ). In fact, newly installed PD Rick Gillette has had to practically make over the entire staff - the original weekday lineup that started on 92~3 Now in March 2009 is all gone. The Maximum Hits/Hitz idea is a fair one. I don't know how much "talk-time" Carson Daly gets on his Amp Radio L.A. morning show, but it's likely not as much as the KIIS-FM Ryan Seacrest show. |

CBS Radio made a huge mistake on this...It looks likes Cheap Channel's WXKS 107.9 (Kiss 108) is going to laugh at this and put their station into overdrive...
103.3 Amp is not...IS NOT...going to dent Kiss 108.

I don't know if 103.3 coming back as classic hits is likely. Yes, they brougt CBS-FM back, but that was more of a unique situation and was an unserved audience. I don't know if WODS dropping classic hits will have the backlash like CBS-FM did. Those listeners can go to 105.7. Classic hits listeners in NYC had nowhere to go.
In Chicago, CBS tried to resurrect 104.3 WJMK a while back as "K-Hits" (this station was killed the day CBS-FM was, legendary oldies); so far, the station has done very little to take down WLS-FM, who picked up the format after WJMK dropped it.
If WROR is smart, they will adjust the playlist to include more pop from the 70s and 80s and cut back on some of the harder rock. Pep up the presentation. They can easily pick up the old WODS audience and capitalize on this. Assuming the old WODS audience successfully migrates to WROR, I don't know if a return of WODS would be very celebrated if it were to ever happen down the road. I'm still shocked the station is flipping and it will be interesting to watch.

Still won't let anyone touch his baby, the mediocre Hot AC WBMX. So now, you're going to hear almost the same music on WBMX and WODS. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You blow up your successful classic hits with solid 25-54 numbers to eat away at your WBMX numbers? There's not even a guarantee that the listeners will leave Kiss 108.
