WUPA-TV Tower Move
« on: June 28, 2012, 12:09:10 PM »

I accidentally came across WUPA-TV's (CW69) transmitter coordinates the other day when looking for the site of the new 94.5.

I was surprised to learn that CW69 moved from the American Tower on Chester Avenue off I-20 to the Richland site about a year ago, and is now at somewhat lower height.  Since it went up several years ago, I've always thought of the Chester Avernue tower as the Channel 69 tower.  Both Clear Channel and Cumulus have backups on that tower, which now also houses 94.5 and 102.9.

Clear Channel has operating backups for two of their stations.  The Cloud Company has a room containing the equipment from the old Ch 17 tower.  The genset from the CH 17 tower is out back.  At this writing, none of the above are hooked up.
