KOKO 94.3
« on: June 29, 2012, 02:00:36 AM »

This week KOKO 94.3 made the switch to more traditional oldies from the late 50s to the 80s. according to the Fresno Bee today, KOKO is to bring back Oldies (all varieties) that was lost to KABX and KFSO, but it sounds to me like a watered down version of the much more sucessful KMGV Mega 97.9 like KOKO  always was, R&b oldies, Joe Collins is doing the morning show, if it a true Oldies station where are the Beatles, The Beach Boys, the Byrds, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The 4 Seasons, The Animals, and etc. well you get my point.

I wasn't ranking on the station they still have the same format,  they always had minus the 90s and beyond and Latin Hip-Hop, it's just The Broadcast Beat in the Fresno Bee made it sound like we're getting something new, we always had Rhythmic Oldies, it's the Mainstream Oldies that is the void in Fresno.

Yes.com used to post the playlist live. Can the KOKO playlist be found somewhere else?

It was run up the chain to the regional programmer, and then approved by the hired consultant. Did I miss someone that wasn't on the memo"

It's true, the flip is really nothing more than culling out the 90's and all, but you gotta love Joe throwing in some rather obscure tracks from the early days of R&B.  Let's hope that we've a little free-form early R&B/R&R that makes it worth while to listen to the same stuff that's over on Mega.  Joe, it's good to have you back on the air.
