Umm....Southern Gospel Returning to 104.3 WEYE?
« on: June 29, 2012, 09:24:58 AM »

I saw in Tom Taylor's "On Radio-Info" e-newsletter this morning that WEYE (Surgoinsville) has been sold to Positive Alternative Radio (PAR). PAR already programs Contemporary Christian on 88.3 WCQR, which has a great signal - which is why I would think WEYE would be going Southern Gospel likely as PAR's network of "JoyFM" stations. JoyFM is already on a couple of Tri-Cities' translators, but their signals don't have much kick. It wasn't too many years ago that WEYE was Southern Gospel (running Solid Gospel) when it was co-owned with WMCH, Church Hill. By the way is WMCH for sale or just its building? I live in NC, was by there about 2 months ago and saw a realtor sign at their studios in Church Hill.

I was kind of curious what is on 104.3 WEYE now? 100000watts.com is reporting they are simulcasting Contemporary Christian 88.3 WCQR which would not make sense as pointed out.

A Positive Alternative Radio employee did reach out to me yesterday and verified that WEYE is "for a sister station of ours playing Christian AC." I really felt it would be Southern Gospel as WCQR has a great signal across the Tri-Cities, does it not? WCQR website is boasting that this will improve the signal toward Morristown and into parts of SW Virginia.

Except for the 88 FM they could be a for profit (or raise a little money for missions).  Salem make$ a small fortune off of 104.7 The fish in Atlanta.  CCM is very sell-able.
