Jack Miller overnights
« on: June 30, 2012, 03:23:33 PM »

Finally heard him for myself at 3:30 AM.  Does anybody know what is prompting CBS to do this? Even if he is voice tracked, it is an unusual move. I think Classic Hits stations should have a local personality 24/7. Any ideas on this?

He was on for five mornings in a row starting with last Monday night thru early Saturday morning.  Did not hear him early Sunday or Monday morning so maybe his is live and just does the 5 days a week.  He appeared to be live the other morning when discussing some current weather, but who knows.  Nice to have a midnight voice for a change but he was awesome on the late evening shift and is missed.

Gotta to give CBS credit for putting local jocks on 24/7.  Also, they are using a jingle in the little raspy voice that Top 40 stations used to do. Don't know the official name of that. KQV used to use it in the line 'audio 14" and others. It is just another touch making Q105 sound great to me.

Sounds like you're talking about Sonovox...

I think Q105 sounds as good as Top 40 back in the Sixties. Also the True Oldies Channel sounds better having other voices than Scott Shannon all the time. Nothing wrong with him, but one guy all the time doesn't cut it.

It would be more eerie with Dick Clark, unless he was intro-ing "She's Not There."
