« on: July 01, 2012, 11:49:11 AM »

Lufkin strikes again. J.P. Heath, the longtime News and Sports Director/play-by-play guy at KRBA Radio in Lufkin is now the permanent voice of Rice University athletics. Rice has given him the title of Director of Broadcasting for the athletic department.  Here's the full story.

He will serve as the Owls’ play-by-play voice for football, basketball, baseball and soccer as well as host the weekly Rice Coaches Show on 1560 The Game. He will also manage the Owls broadcast team for football and coordinate the broadcast for women’s basketball.

In addition to his broadcast duties, Heath will also be active in creating, marketing and implementing new broadcasting promotional packages.

Way to go J.P.  He's a very talented and hardworking guy, and all of us up here in Lufkin are proud as all get-out. He deserves all the success that comes his way.

He joins the long list of successful radio and TV people who got their start in Lufkin.
