I, for one, know where my dial will be on Monday morning.  This is kind of exciting and I am really looking forward to the product they will be putting out.

Greensboro Sports is reporting that the Epperson's own WEGO and will carry Wake Forest Football this season. It also says "Mike Gallagher, Michael Medved, maybe we’ll see and hear the return of Michael Savage".

As long as they don't get Bill going on politics, this should be a great show.  Flynn knows how to prep and be topical.  With Smith's news know-how, they should be a dynamic duo!  I'll listen when I'm in the coverage area.

Hey, folks, I'm the GM at AM980 The Eagle.  Just to clear up a few things, the Hungerfords have not bought this station - it is property of the Epperson family.  The Hungerfords, however, are reviving the Intelligent Investor show that ran for 20 years on WSJS before WSJS removed it.  Michael Savage will not be on the schedule.  The three "Mikes" we have are Huckabee, Gallagher and Medved.  Yes, we are airing Wake Forest FB and BB this year, but we are not the "flagship" for them - that is IMG College, the company that produces and guides their sports broadcasts.  Yes, our signal is smaller than WSJS - at 1.3 Kilowatts...whihc is why we will try to overserve Forsyth County and be "ruthlessly local".  Laura Ingraham is a nice catch for us - and she will be appearing in market sometime with us next year for a live appearance.  Smith Patterson IS news in this market;  I am thankful to have him.  I hope this helps clear the waters a bit.

Mr. GM, I've noticed that the Epperson's WTRU 830 AM is being rebroadcast on 2 FM translators. One is W249BZ 97.7 in Clemmons with 250 watts and the other is W275AL 102.9 in High Point with 99 watts.  It would be great for the Epperson's to put WEGO on the Clemmons translator to at least give it a chance to cover Winston Salem at night & early in the morning. Surely WTRU with 50KW Day & 10 KW night can cover the market without a translator. Hopefully you folks are working on this as I type.

OK Mr GM the reigns are in your hands!  There is a huge opportunity for you the those involved if you don't screw it up.  WSJS made a huge pile of money and many loyal listeners being a "Winston" station and you have that opportunity.  Curtis and WSJS tossed the station to the wolves.  Good luck to you guys and girls.

WSJS has always been a "Winston" station, but tried very hard to be a Triad station. It is a mere shadow of it's former self.

Super serving Forsyth county is a smart move on the part of Eagle980. As they gain advertisers and the revenue begins to grow, I would expect to hear more from this group.

Streaming will help a great deal!

WSJS was the first Triad radio station to stream programing (via broadcast.com), but issues with royalties for national ads and syndicated programs scared owners (Clear Channel and CBS) away from the technology. Streaming helps AM penetrate the "at work" market and if marketed correctly can translate into a lot of ad dollars.

As smart phones, mobile internet and other such devices become more common, streaming will be even more crucial.
