Just saw a pic on Facebook of WOGL celebrating being number one in Philly. So, how about all those recent posts here about CBS flipping the station?
Check out May PPM's. WOGL number one, KYW number 2.

If OGL is #1 6 plus, they're performing well in the money demos as well. Should be a very strong showing A 25-54. Congrats.
This station is going NOWHERE!

Quite impressive for WOGL. You can't know success. I was in a work area at work today and they did have WOGL on and the five songs they played while I was in that area were all good ones. They must be doing something special this week as while there most of the music was from the 70's, but then they played an early Elvis song, which isn't usual for their playlist. Whatever their doing, it is working. Congrats WOGL.
Looking at the May ratings I also noticed how WPHT has jumped ahead of WHYY-FM in talk ratings (usually WHYY-FM gets higher ratings than WPHT). Of course WPHT is still airing the Phillies which might account for that bump in their ratings. Speaking of sports/talk, WIP-FM and WIP-AM dominate in sports talk. Of course WIP has the Phillies on FM which surly has helped their ratings, even though they've been beating WPEN-FM in the ratings game for some time.
Interestingly when combining all four sport talkers WIP-FM/AM and WPEN- FM/AM vs WPHT, WHYY-FM, and WNTP which had no ratings showing, that there are more folks listening to sports/talk than news/talk by 0.6 %. Not a large difference, but still interesting. Of course Philly IS a sports town. It would be interesting to see how sports/talk vs news/talk does in other major market cities that have major league teams.
The conventional wisdom is that it is difficult to get that very special demo group of young males 18-49 to listen to radio, yet in Philly there are more sports/talk listeners than news/talk listeners. So I'd assume that both WIP and WPEN are doing just fine in local spot revenue. Both seem to be pulling in listeners. WIP-AM is still pulling its weight, vs WPEN-AM which isn't, but even the small amount of listeners on 950 probably still help the bottom line in terms of ad dollars since that is such a desired demo.
That would be an interesting question to get the answer to, with WIP-FM now airing the Phillies, has that affected any of the Phillies network affiliates in the tri-state area that are close enough to Philly where WIP-FM comes in clearly, to lose any of their AM listeners. An example would be Wilmington's WDEL.

Isn't this old (no pun intended) news by now? Or is this for the upcoming data being released next week?

...WIP-AM is still pulling its weight, vs WPEN-AM which isn't...
And wouldn't it be sad if WIP-AM was still cruising by WPEN-AM with its new CBS Sports Radio format.

I think the CBS sports radio format, might be a good thing for 610 WIP. It will offer even another choice of sports/talk radio programming for this great sports region. It would give 94.1 those 610 listeners (who can get 94.1 and want the local sports talk that WIP is known for) and might bring in new listeners to 610 thus growing their audience share. Of course it could flop and hurt 610's audience share.
However, CBS, which owns WIP, will make money from selling national spots and having the Philly market carrying the CBS feed helps that bottom line as national ad dollars is based on how many markets carry the program, and a major market like Philly is worth a lot of money. So with the new CBS programming coming in September, that might actually make 610 more profitable than it is now as a simulcast to 94.1's programming. That of course is the bottom line.
As an added bonus 610 WIP covers Wilmington, Atlantic City, Trenton, and Allentown. So they could claim those four markets in addition to Philly when selling those national spots.

I'm just glad 610 is remaining a sports station. Now if we could just get full market clearance of ESPN on 950, everything would be right in the sports world..radio wise.

I have even an additional choice, besides all the choices from Philly, as we have a Fox sports/talker in Wilmington on 1290 WWTX. It would seem that sport/talk is the new thing for both AM and FM.
So yes, things are looking pretty good in the Delaware Valley for sports/talk radio. Sure wish the Phillies could get THEIR act together.

Isn't this old (no pun intended) news by now? Or is this for the upcoming data being released next week? Yes, old news discussed when the May ratings were released on June 11, 2012. The original poster/thread starter was reacting to a (supposedly? apparently?) belated updating of the WOGL station Facebook page. Or just happened to view the page as of late. See thread started on 6/11/12 that includes WOGL discussion here. Next report release will be on Tue. 7/10/12 (delayed one day due to Independence Day) for June 2012 survey period of 5/24-6/20/12.
