Stern is everywhere gearing up for the move...
« on: December 07, 2005, 01:02:04 AM »

60 min. 2 days on the Today Show with Katie Couric. The O'reilly Factor. Saturday Night Live. MSNBC, just to name a few...it seems like everytime I turn on the TV somebody is talking about the move.

And it is still a month away.

SIRIUS is going to get their $500 million out of him in free advertising.

Its not ludacris, its a great business and promotion move.  If you notice, he doesn't just talk up his show, he talks up sirius in general.  Saying "If you don't like something on my show?  No problem we have over 100 more channels of great programing."  That's great!  If anybody knows how to promote a product, howard does.  Look at his book, movie, tv shows, etc.

Ths does show the hypocricy of the media (in my opinion).  Media outlets couldn't crap on Stern ENOUGH when he was on regular radio.  The always would sideways bash him whenever they did a report on him or mentioned him.  NOW he is a media darling who they can't talk to enough about his gentle spirit and his much publicized move to SIRIUS.  Is he a scumbag or ISN'T he?  Make up your damn minds!  If you're going to coddle him like an Neilson-ratings baby, at least have the family jewels to say "Howard I publicly apologize for all the years I trashed you."

Yes! I noticed this last night while watching Fox News. As much as I dont care for the guy, he does have major talent.. and will be the key to Sirius' success.

1st, IMO Sirius is much better than XM... I feel a lot of XM users will shift over to Sirius simply because of quality.

#2, Stern is introducing satellite radio to people that have no idea what it is... He is even talking about how easy it is to get installed in your car.. THAT'S SAYING A LOT. to radio people like us.. it's no big deal... but people like my parents (for example), they even want to jump on the bandwagon.

#3, PERFECT IN TIME FOR XMAS. Sirius can make a great gift.

I think it's an excellent marketing plan.

If I was in the media... I wouldnt say one bad word about him... he has a very loud mouth without FCC bs. He could do some "sirius" damage to someone's reputation... Seems to me, everybody is kissing his ass.

OK what is the big deal with Howard anyway?  I’ve tried to listen to him many times and I don’t see why he is so popular.  The parts of the show I have heard is him saying how great he is, how everyone he meets bows before him and his side kicks agreeing with him and saying he is wonderful.

He may have some funny bits, but trashing Tom and KROCK all the time saying the only reason they are doing this stuff to him is because he is leaving is getting very old.  Sirius will most likely make a ton of money on him (they better with a $500 million deal).  Maybe I’m not hearing the “real” Howard, but I must be missing something as why he has such a loyal following.

Hell Ed McMahon made tons of money saying, “You are correct sir” that must have been a nice gig.

What am I missing?  Any thoughts?
