Well, I just did a quick check of the ratings of both stations.

102.1 in Cleveland, WDOK, is in 4th place.
102.1 in Kansas City, KSRC, is in 17th place.

I know what my conclusion is.

Well, there's one way I've used to cheat the website into telling me beforehand, and so far...it's worked.

At some point, close to the switch, they'll have to place the station-specific FreeFM content into the website.  Now, this domain already points to the same IP address of the other FreeFM websites, and some of the shared image links also already work.   But the particular station-specific stuff hasn't been laid down yet, or ... at least the link below won't work yet until the time gets closer to the actual flip.  When the link does start to work, it'll reveal the identity of the station they're going to use it for, over in the left portion of the flash element you're just pulling up directly..

However in this particular situation, I think Trip has already done the homework for us.

Covered in this item in Your Very Own Personal Mighty Blog of Fun(tm) (with a side "tm" to the one and only "Famous Amos" Cheesy):

http://ohiomedia.blogspot.com/2006/01/two-allaccess-items.html

The upshot?  WDOK is a long-time ratings/revenue monster in this region, and CBS Radio's local suits would need head examinations to blow it up for "Free FM".  If any local station is "untouchable", it'd be WDOK (along with Clear Channel talk WTAM on the AM side).

Oddly enough, this news comes on the same day that sister CBS Radio hot AC WQAL/104.1 reportedly demotes PD Allan Fee, and brings in former WLTF/106.5 programming mainstay Dave Popovich from his current post in Denver.  Give Dave's extensive background in the AC format, it's somewhat unlikely that Q is making any such change, either.  You don't bring in the former 10-year programmer of "Lite Rock 106 1/2" to run a talk station.

As of 11:20PM EST on 1/18/06, the 404 page has turned into a "403 Forbidden". This would indicate that the domain is active and is being worked on. I wouldn't confuse this with the 925freefm.com scare; something's going to happen soon.

I've also noticed that the domain freefm1021.com was registered by CBS. I went to that website, and got this: http://www.itm2053.com/skin/index.php?

It's the same redirect that I got in the week leading up to the launch of 92.3 Free-FM in New York.

HMMMM...
