I agree with you guys! I really like BOB in Austin. I've listened to JACK Online from Dallas, and I think they are two completely different stations.
The voiceover guy is the same, but he's funnier on BOB than on JACK (I've never listened to the actual "radio" version of Jack though-just the online version which I believe is different).
As far as specific programming goes, I really can't pinpoint the difference between Bob and Jack (at least the Austin and Dallas versions of each). Bob seems to have a wider playlist (IMO). Really, I don't get to hear Bob much. I just pick up 103.5 when I can from Houston. I only go to Austin occassionally (unfortunately--I wish I could go there more often!).
I think the little fill-in liners are funny on Bob. They seem to keep them somewhat fresh. I like the one that goes something like:
"Bob's mom is really excited about her son's new station!...Okay, she doesn't get out that much."
They are more interesting than hearing the same jazzed up liners we have on our Houston stations.
Yeah, I do think Austin ends up with a better product musically than Dallas, or for that matter, Houston.
