Was WHDH-7 Even Aware Of Saturday's NBC Olympic Broadcast Schedule Change??
« on: February 18, 2006, 09:08:43 AM »

Yesterday (February 17th), NBC announced that today's (February 18th) daytime broadcast of the Winter Olympics was being expanded by an hour. Instead of being broadcast from 12 Noon to 6 P.M., the daytime coverage would be seen from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M.

Although the "cover story" given was that the expanded coverage was to provide additional airtime to show events that had been postponed until today due to weather, the real reason was to provide more commercial time for "make good" spots to advertisers given the low ratings of these Games.

But someone at WHDH-7 must not have heard. At 11 A.M., they were broadcasting the regularly-scheduled "Discovery Kids" children's programming and not the Olympics.

At this writing, 11:08 A.M. EST, WJAR-10 in Providence has indeed started airing the network's coverage (which at the moment is showing women's biathlon pursuit). WHDH is still airing "Discovery Kids".

Scandalous! I was so looking forward to seeing doped-up
Russian female skiers sweep the 15k race. Bummer!

>Does anyone remember when they were on PAY-View a view years back. It was so bad NBC had CNBC running a four screen block to show what was happining and the price kept going lower and lower.
