> > Chopper,

I've been following this WSBK thing since the news broke last week.Let me tthrow this out at you.
What if WSBK went to a classic type of line-up. Older Cartoons in the afternoon and during Prime-Time Classic TV shows.

MASH
Beverly Hillbillies
Barney Miller
Do classic TV Primetime sort of like what TV Land does now but show better shows.
Staying away from Cosby and Prince Crap.

weekdays
8:00 MASH
8;30 Barney Miller
9:00 Jeffersons
9:30 Alice

Saturday Night

8:00 BJ and the Bear (if available)
9:00 The Love Boat

Sunday Night

8:00 The original "Fantasy Island"
9;00 Some sort of hour long classic drama.

This is a mock line up and only an idea and I know it's not perfect.

With a "real" classic type of format they would have a good chance of getting back on Cable systems and with those type of shows  there would nt be to big of a problem with syndex rules.

What do you and others think.

The slogan...."Primetime classics during Primetime on WSBK TV-38".

Now keep in mind. that outfit houses

WBZ 4 (CBS)
WLWC 28 CW
WSBK Indy
nice mix but WLWC targets Providence

Of course WTNH's coverage of Bridgeport and Fairfield County (which they do more of than the other Hartford licensed group) doesn't count apparently.

Neither does WICC right in Bridgeport, they don't count either.

They have their own special market?

Hmm, last time I checked, Fairfield County was in the New York DMA.
Litchfield, New Haven, and Middlesex Counties are in the Hartford DMA.

Kenny,
Those are some great ideas. Hopefully we'll get to see it happen.

The coverage map from the FCC website grossly overstates the coverage area of WSAH - they show coverage even north and east of Hartford.  I have never been able to pick up this station in either New Britain or Farmington.

That must of been years ago because I remember Cox Cable blacking out a lot on WSBK 38 a year or two before they dropped it off channel 17. This was after they dropped WWOR 9 in 1998 or 1999. Most the day Cox just ran infos on WSBK 38 and at night but they didn't block out the local news at 7pm or 10pm, Cox also let some stuff be shown but I don't even remember what as I hardly watched WSBK as it was mostly blacked out. But it would be real nice if WSBK 38 was a Superstation once again and cable compaines in New England had to carry it as WSBK would show some Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics games. So that means the local station couldn't pick up the games like they did when Red Sox were on FOX 25.

Theirs really no need to carry this channel. I don't know why Cox Cable puts it on 8. If I were Cox I would carry it but treat it like a cable channel not a local station with Shop at Home on it. I'd move it to Channel 72 where it should be.

I will admit that WTNH does superb coverage of Fairfield County.  Unfortunately, it is not "local origination" coverage.  This is especially sad since Bridgeport is Connecticut's LARGEST city.  Not to mention, WTNH is not available to the thousands of Fairfield County residents who subscribe to satellite cable.

This is a TV board, I wasn't including radio or printed press.

Apparently you didn't refer to the link I provided: (http://www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Cable/Orders/2000/da000880.doc)
