Not scolding. I'm not shaking my finger at you based on your opinion. I'm just wanting to know why you jump all over people for innocent comments.

Garth,

Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.  You will not be missed around Renda, from what my friends tell me.

Based on your performance on this board, I don't see how you could have been very objective. An editorial columnist, maybe.

DEFENDING someone that is FAR from being INNOCENT... Garth has done nothing positive for OKC radio or many good radio talent here.  Tony, Garth might seem ok in a one-time meeting, but his actions speak a LOT clearer about his true self.  Ask all the people that exited KOMA-AM/KOKC sometime and the stories you'll hear will astound you.  Trust me.

That's a fact.

I can remember a tornado being ON THE GROUND (and headed due east into okc/edmond) in Canadian County during a Memorial Day weekend, and 1520 was airing paid talk programming instead of simulcasting KFOR-TV.

That's just *one* gripe about Garth...

OK ... I was simply asked to provide info about Garth.  Again, I don't know what happened.  I was not defending anything except his courtesy to me.

I do know that before KOMA, WKY was interested in him -- that was several years ago.

I did asked an on-air person at KOMA-FM about how Garth was doing, and he told me Garth and he had never met which did seem a bit strange.

One word describes Garth's management at KOMA-AM/KOKC.

WORTHLESS.

OK, if that happened, it is inexcuable ... terrible.

Terrible.  The old WKY and KOMA would never have done that.

When I was at WKY, three meterologists from WKY-TV kept track of the weather.

A station is licensed to serve the community of license.

In this case, it failed ... miserably.

One question: Were lives lost?

If so, the station's license should be challenged.

Again, I stand by my statement about the First Amendment.

No one has First Amendment rights on Radio-Info except the owners.

Now, the important point, from what I have heard, and if it is indeed true, then the station was mismanaged badly. The lack of tornado coverage is totally and utterly inexcuable.

I was not there.  I was taught as a reporter to check all stories for validity.

But I will say to you, that if it indeed happened, and I have no reason to doubt what you are saying.  Then the program director should have been fired.

That kind of crap happened ALL the time at KOKC from what I have heard.  People under Garth did all the work and kept the place going to do the right thing while he was "in charge".  If anything, he'd just muck up the waters with his "direction".  Many of the good people were on the news staff and we all know what happened to the majority of them.  One positive for Garth is his personality in general on the surface.  Dig a little better and look at his record, and that surface hides a much more ugly part.
