Sterling on WLW and WGST
« on: February 20, 2006, 04:15:02 PM »

Had the chance to catch 'Sterling' covering afternoons for Kimmer on WGST last week.  I know does weekends from the WLW site and heard him the last couple of days.  Does he do a regular show somewhere during the week?  Like what he does and could see him doing more.  Anyone know his story?

Gee, Mackerel, or should I call you Jimbo722 --- This is one of the more pathetic attempts at creating one's own buzz.  You posted the exact same message on News/Talk and Hot Talk, and even used another name to ask about yourself on the Atlanta board, then answer your own question.  Guess nobody "knows your story" better than you.

He's good for those suffering from insomnia. Five minutes of "Sterling" and you are headed for a deep sleep, without the side-effects of narcotics.

To the best of my knowledge, Sterling's home is WTVN 610 in Columbus OH.  I don't listen, but I think he's on daily after another Columbus hero, John Corby.

Thanks for the help. Tried the WTVN site and can't find him.  Lots of travel for work and talk radio helps to keep me sane, informed and entertained. Also, good source of local market information where business takes me. Enjoyed what I've heard of Sterling. Funny with different takes on issues than much of what talk stations I listen to.

Nah, Sterling's an ok guy.  He lives in Columbus and is ISDN'd to WLW.  Every once in a blue moon when it's made of cheese, you'll hear him slip and refer to "here in Columbus"... but he does it so fast and infrequently it's almost unnoticeable.  Most of the time, he's bantering about the Bengals, Reds, the latest shooting or whatever's the news on 5, 9 or 12's website, without referring to his source.  He sounds good and local for the 'nati.  What's great is that I've heard him plug the news guy or talk about what they had for lunch that day.  All of that can be accomplished with a prep e-mail.  He used to work with Darryl Parks in Darryl's days of programming 'TVN.  Bruce Collins used to PD at 'GST, and my guess is that's why he's on down there.

Sorry.  That's probably the last time I listened to his show locally, too.

i'd like to hear Strling replace the KRC morning show. nothing... no person is more sleep-inspiring than graig kopp.

then again, i'd be missing a character from some good car humor me and my friends have with all cincy radio hosts when they're in town. after getting passed the "i can't believe these people are on the radio" factor, we have some fun with these people and mr. kopp is an all-star.

anyway, i like sterling. he "gets it."
