Good new music site?
« on: March 04, 2006, 02:00:10 PM »

I'm looking to do some writing for overseas webzines and music publications and need access to a fairly current listing of single releases and hopefully download links. This is so I can do an "American single of the week" or at least monthly, and have it be reasonably timely, not having to filter through a bunch of junk to get it. Can anyone recommend a quality site for indie/alt. rock and various subgenres?

Well, fulfilling the prophecy that any reasonably sized trend can have a search engine created for it, try http://elbo.ws (yes, that's the URL.)  It's a blog aggregator for music blogs, and it compiles a weekly "what are people blogging about?" chart.

Pretty helpful, but it's still a lot to weed through...

I'm a fan of www.purevolume.com.  And of course myspace is a good place to find bands, but they don't always have tracks you can download.
