When will 97.1 The River get DJ's?
« on: March 06, 2006, 10:11:22 AM »

When will 97.1 The River get DJ's?  We have heard hints of it.  Also have heard hints that it will be voicetracked, but the station has been without DJ's since the flip in January.

I know they're still working on getting the Promotions team together, so it might be a bit slow and go right now.  I love the music, but also enjoy a bit of interaction with on-air DJs.

Didn't someone on the board hint at them going for VTing?

Hard to tell. They list 3 dj's. One claims to have a boat on Lake Lanier obviously could be B>S> to seem like he is from here. Another talks about being born and raised here and list all the parts of the city he has lived in. Again could be BS to seem local. Or did live here and VT's from elsewhere. Then the 3rd DJ Ariana talks about how she manages her brother band. When you google it does show up as a local ATL band. Maybe there is some hope that 97.1 will have local hosts.

During the week, it'll probably be live. Stations will usually have local (with the exception of syndicated programming) from morning drive to prime time. But, then after 10pm, you can mostly expect a VT. Weekends is VT, too. Take B98 for example, also owned by Cox. It seems that their morning show and a certain afternoon guy is there the whole freaking weekend. Nope, just "canned" radio is all it is. At least they're adding jocks as opposed to when it was 97.1 Jamz. I used to love the music mix....until every other song they cried "we caught V-103 playing 247 hours of commercials and senseless DJ talk" Who cares??? Ironically, 97.1 Jamz posted it's best book ever just before it switched to "The River". The only two things that I don't care for right now is that the River is plugging itself as the bridge between Dave FM and 99X. It sounds to me that Dave is the bridge between the other two. And, what's with "The River"? Can't they come up with a better title? I thought Dave FM was lame. "Whose Dave, and why do we care?" I asked. The call letters are still WFOX. Why not go back to Fox 97? Just because it was oldies when it was tagged that, doesn't mean it still has to play oldies. Hey, maybe "Fox 97, Classics that ROCK". Works for me.

Really.... why?
Imagine, a radio station with ONLY music and the occasional commercial.
I'd listen a LOT.

You really should read these bios more carefully.

These are not on-air people.  This is their promotions staff.  The one guy, Klapper (?) is their promo director.

They don't seem to have a staff in place yet, considering they're still advertising the PD's chair.

The "occasional" commercial?  Right now the spot loads are low, but do any of you realize what "52 minutes of continuous classic hits" really means!

EIGHT CONTINUOUS MINUTES OF COMMERCIALS!!!!!

I'll take 12 miniutes per hour if it's broken into smaller chunks any day of the week over a stopset reviled in length only by a break in the Howard Stern Show (may it rest in peace).

Are they playing ONE stop set an hour? I thought I heard only 4 minute stop sets twice an hour?
