WZZO needs a facelift..
« on: March 11, 2006, 12:16:21 AM »

I live in Palmer Township and I do believe that WZZO is a good station with a long history and a set base of older listeners, but thats why we have 99.9 The Hawk, even though they don't play the older hard stuff. After being a Y100 listener and then a 92.3 K-Rock listener for a while until they both switched from alternative and not being satisfied with 93.3 WMMR or 94.1 WYSP because of the FREE FM format for YSP, I have really started to listen to 97.9 WBSX from Hazelton.  I believe that WZZO needs to take a lesson from WBSX and give the station a little facelift. The DJ's are great, Bearman and Keith are great, but the music is dull..we need some new, more contemporary rock in the Valley, and since theres an older crowd that listens, play some of those older songs as vintage tracks every once in a while.  WBSX has a great mix of music for the modern rock genre. But I'm sick and tired of having to import stations from outside the market and never getting a real local flavor and clear signal that ZZO could provide a modern rock scene here. Their modern rock play is half-assed and outdated. The least they could do is provide a Modern Rock or Alternative HD2 or HD3 signal if they get a transmitter in the coming months. I know WYSP is slated for an Alternative HD2.  Does anyone feel the same about ZZO being boring or is it just me, being an 18 year old living amongst older rockers in the Valley?

We may have different views on what constitutes good modern rock but one thing we agree on is that WZZO is boring.  WZZO has become a laughing stock amongst my peers from 25-45.  No one listens to WZZO.  In the Bethlehem local weekly one of the writers wrote a great editorial calling WZZO stale and out of touch.   And it is so true. WZZO is irrelevant.  Get an xm or sirius satellite radio.  WZZO is dead!>

OMG!!!! I am not the only one in the Valley that thinks about this nightmare. But
let us go through and figure out what is right about ZZO.
Bearman & Keith:They are great....when they don't talk over each other.
Torri Thomas   :Is so lucky to have the job.Remember how you got it?
Barry Dawson   :An answer for insomnia. Why would you put a photo on the station's website with a B104 poster in clear view on it.They are still the competition.Just a classic case of the wrong person doing the promotions job.
Blake Dannon:Still doing the "yukfest" @ 5pm.Take David Bowie's advice and do some ch,ch,ch,changes.
Chris Line. The "Ryan Seacrest" of the Valley.Would be better doing CHR.
The only bright spark on the weekend staff is Craig Barnes.Funny & cleaver. The wrecking ball should be put through the rest. The music has been played to death but you have to remember.Conservative attitudes rule in this area so the market has to be too. Here is your shovel guys.Keep digging your own graves.
