100.5 Bob-FM
« on: March 30, 2006, 09:31:00 PM »

From All Access.com

Connoisseur Signs On 100.5 Bob-FM/Wichita
CONNOISSEUR MEDIA signed on Adult Hits KIBB (100.5 BOB-FM)/WICHITA today at 1p. 100.5 is a brand new frequency for WICHITA. The station launch was assisted by consultant JOEL FOLGER.

How ironic they pick up the KIBB calls which use to be on 100.3 in Los Angeles where KKBT-The Beat is now.

Other than that, has anyone heard the station yet and how do they sound?

Why is that ironic?  I'm guessing they sound just like every other BOB-fm in North America.

What I meant by ironic, I actually meant the call letters, those calls were used before in Los Angeles. I know all the Bob and Jack-FM stations all sound the same, then they're a few that sound a little bit more Rhythmic and Rock leaning then most of them that are out there.

I am missing something. Why is it ironic that they were used in LA?

I listened for a little bit. Not a bad station, a Jack station called Bob.

Might give Magic 92.3 or B-98 a little at-work competition.

It's not ironic by any definition.

Irony is incongruity between the actual result of an incident and the expected result. It's NOT like rain on your wedding day; that's just bad luck.

This is closer to irony: getting approval for the call letters, then getting your station license yanked.

Ape.

I think he meant that KIBB was a well executed, but badly programmed Rhythmic Adult Top 40 that tanked in the ratings during its two year run in Los Angeles. In other words some might think Wichita's "Bob FM" will suffer the same fate.

LOL You know what Robert you have a point on that, I guess it's sort of curse wouldn't you say:-)

It's just that I would've thought they would pick some different call letters that would be close to the moniker, but I guess when you look at KIBB it would be close enough to match Bob. KIBoB?

Interesting side note...100.3 out of Kingman (downgraded to upgrade 100.5 to a C3) is NOT simoulcasting 100.5 at this point. Will 100.3 be sold and if so to whom and for what.
