No, I hear you just fine. The example I gave, Bitboard, is a sharing service that you have to contribute to in order to use some of the ideas others have shared. The object is to take an idea and put your own spin or angle on it.
Bitboard is in most of the major markets, used by high profile morning shows. You may be surprised at who uses it and what a great tool it is to have in your belt. When I used it here in Philly, we shared with morning shows in L.A., New York, Cleveland, as well as the medium and small markets. I remember some of the best ideas came out of the smaller markets at times. I really didn't mean to turn this into a commercial for Bitboard or any of the services. My point is that it's OK and accepted to use your own material as well as run with someone else's ideas. It's not only accepted, it's a great resource.

The irony here is that O&A are notorious for trashing Stern for claiming that O&A rips him off.  If anything Italian custodians should be pissed that "Rocco" is so lame.  Otherwise, I don't see the issue.

I doubt personalities like Stern, O&A, the Greaseman, Mandouche (Mancow) and others use services like "Bit Board".

My point is...once you get to Philly, you really should start coming up with your own material. And if you DO rip-off another (better) show, don't rip it off

Yeah, because getting the logo of a radio station on TV didn't go out three days after Marconi invented the Fing thing... & it was part of a $10,000 scavenger hunt. Maybe O&A invented that, too!  Idiot.

..........   Items   ..........

ITEM #1: Any official (station produced) item with the Wired 96.5 Logo on it
( eg: keychain, t-shirt, etc ). Homemade items will not qualify.

ITEM #2: A photo of you holding your official Wired 96.5 logo item in front of the Rocky statue (located in front of the Spectrum). Actual photograph not a Photoshop - doctored graphic.

ITEM #3: Rocco The Janitor’s autograph on anything from the Wired 96.5 Custom Car Slam this Saturday (June 18th). It must be an original autograph, not a photocopy… (so go to the car slam and get something signed by Rocco – like a flyer, a head shot, whatever…)

ITEM #4: 965 different signatures of support stating that YOU should win the Wired 96.5 $10,000 Summer Scavenger Hunt. All signatures must be original, from different people, and signed in pen ink (pencil will not be accepted). Photocopies digitally reproduced and/or e-mail signatures will not be accepted. Only 965 signatures will count. ( download and print out our helpful PDF form )

ITEM #5: get the official wired 96.5 logo on any TV broadcast ( local or national news stand-ups, crowd shots, etc.) and have proof of the said broadcast on VHS tape. Homemade wired 96.5 logos will not count.!

ITEM #6: Ticket stub from the first Regular Season Eagles game @ Lincoln Financial Field. (Monday Night Football: 9/8/03 vs Tampa Bay… Birds lost 17-0)

ITEM #7: A VHS video of you (or one of your team members) in your underwear singing “Don’t Cha” in the Eakins Oval fountain (the one right in front of the Phila Museum of Art w/ Geo. Washington on a horse). Only the Eakins Oval fountain will count… we need at least 1 minute of the chorus. (and it MUST be VHS) *Note: There are three fountains there… any one of them will do*

ITEM #8: 96 Pizza boxes. New or used (eeew), from any pizza place… you can mix and match, they can be any size, but they MUST be assembled.

ITEM #9: Bring one (1) pregnant female with you to the Final Judging event (see below for details).
She must be wearing a two-piece swimsuit bikini, not underwear. The person must be over the age of 18 and hold a valid state photo ID from PA, NJ, DE, or have proof of residency in one of those states (a military ID from a local base is okay). One person per contestant. The person must be brought in with you, and must be a human. The person can’t be you it must be someone else. They should have some form of documentation from their doctor that she is pregnant (like a sonogram or a note)

ITEM #10: As many US Pennies from 1965 as you can find. This will be a tie-breaker item…

I agree you should come up with original material.. but most of the jocks in all markets don't.  Even Stern has ripped off some...Fartman came from Mad Magazine in the 70's..someone told me.
I am a writer.  I pride myself in doing original material..and would find it flattering if it were lifted.  Most of my work could not be used by others normally as I come up with original characters most of the time..

I tend to write material that gets used later..or never since comedy services don't pay too much..I work on pieces for my own enjoyment and share with friends..
The bitboard the earlier poster was talking about helps those who don't write well or have the $$ to hire a Jackie the Jokeman type for their shows..
I have never heard of it till I read about it here.

My point earlier was that the average listener would not notice the bit/idea rip off.  They don't listen to all the radio and satelite radio stations as we radio people do.

As long as Rocco is getting ratings...Jerry Clifton will not care where his material is coming from ...

The Wired contest looks too hard for me..  Beasley doesn't want to give up that 10,000 grand too easliy now do they?  Smiley

You're schilling O & A what OUNCE of credibility do you have. I think my early post got deleted because it may have been a little too scathing but for real get off their jocks. They're below average at best.

That may be true, but taking an idea out of a magazine and using it to execute a concept on the radio isn't as blatantly plagaristic as what Rocco did--

taking a bit off the radio and putting it BACK on the radio and calling it his own.

You see what I'm sayin'?

Let me ask you then...

What do you consider above average radio?
