WIOQ/Q102 loses one
« on: June 29, 2005, 01:23:54 PM »

From All Access:

CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WAKS (96.5 KISS-FM)/CLEVELAND PD DAN MASON announces that sister Top 40 WIOQ (Q-102)/PHILADELPHIA afternooner (and WAKS voicetracking night slammer) KASPER is returning to CLEVELAND to assume the APD/MD/afternoon drive post, effective in late AUGUST or early SEPTEMBER. This marks a homecoming for OHIO-native KASPER, who returns to the same position that he held at WAKS before heading to WIOQ late last year.

Stepping into the now-vacant night slot will be sister Top 40 WIHT (HOT 99.5)/WASHINGTON D.C. weekend/swing shifter J-NIICE, a relative newcomer to the radio game who's been behind the mic less than 2 years. His first night in the building will be JULY 18th.

As a result of the above changes, WAKS and current afternooner STICK "ON THE RADIO" part company. STICK will continue to voicetrack afternoons at 94.7 HITS-FM/MONTREAL and X107.1 in the CAYMEN ISLANDS, as well as do swing at Z100/NEW YORK. He won't be idle for long, so pick up STICK at (216) 269-5500 or radiostick@aol.com.

Wonder if it would be a possibility for the 2 to just trade places?
Stick is a very good jock.
Sorry you guys lose Kasper, but it's great to have him back here in Cleveland.

Ouch!  Kasper was the best thing Q102 had going for them.

There's a missing piece here.  If J-Niice is going to nights, I guess that means Jessie Jordan is going to afternoons.  Good move there.  I like Jessie Jordan, but I don't think she really fit at night.  She's not really up to the task of replacing Kasper, but she'll do OK.

J-Niice is a bit green, but he does a good weekend show on Hot 99.5.  Lots of phones, very active promotionally.  He should do well on Q and give them a little boost against Wired at night.

Stick was on nights in Philly a few years ago.  He wasn't that impressive.  The show sounded very canned.  I don't know if it's improved since then, but he really didn't sound good the first time he was on Q.

Hey Slinky,

I think that blurb means this J-NIICE guy is going to nights at WAKS in Cleveland, not here in Philly.

You're right.  The All Access article now has a paragraph mentioning that Q102 PD Todd Shannon is looking to fill Kasper's spot.

Yes, he has been much improved, IMO.
He used to VT weekends here on WAKS a few years ago and I was not a big fan, but he has really improved and I thought did a good show every afternoon here.
I think he'll land a nice gig soon.
