WXMS 27/10 Off the air or cable only?
« on: May 29, 2006, 09:48:38 PM »

Wikipedia, who isn't a very reliable source because its updated by.. anyone.. but says WXMS 27/10 has gone dark.  Any truth to this?  Has WXMS 27/10 gone off the air or gone cable only??  I can no longer recieve it over the air, DirecTV has dropped it from the lineup since WRBJ's sign on, I am unsure if it is still on Suscom (to be Comcast).. and was told to me that it was still on Time Warner, at 9:47pm with Malcom In The Middle.

WBMS 10 is still on the air with the same programming from WXMS.  FCC no longer list the calls WXMS or channel assignment 27.

Either it's a mistake on the FCC's part or WXMS' owners has plans to take them off the air. I hope it's the former and not the latter, though I could imagine that in a market the size of Jackson and all the local signals we have, it would be harder for a true indie TV station to survive. It's not like when WDBD signed on more than 20 years ago, when all that was here was the three major networks and ETV (now MPB).
