What a great move by the station management folks at SL100.  I thought it was a mistake by Forever to drop "The Eagle" and the call letters.  I had listened for so long that they will always be thought of as WTNV to me but I guess everything changes.

I remember Roger from back in the "Hit Radio Q102" days. I was there and he was at "The New 92FM!"
Where was he before being sent to radio purgatory in Dyersburg?
It seems as though I saw something about him on here not too long ago.

Reading all this talk about this stuff...
I may have to find myself a part-time gig one day if this "jones" don't go away!
(Although, there's probably not a station who'd pay the $6.00 an hour I'd have to have! Ha!)

Is that all radio pays around here.  At $6.00 per hour I'd better let go of my dream of being an announcer and pursue something else like maybe a used car salesman.

Trust me, most of us in radio didn't pursue it for the money.

And in regards to the move by the Burks bunch, kudos to them for thinking ahead. Looks like they are making all the right moves these days.

Meep, if you want to know where Roger was, look no further, he was the GM of Clear Channel of Jackson, Forever Communications decided that they didn't need his services and let him go (with a Clear Channel agreement, the details i don't know.. you'll have to ask him)

But he was very influential during the Rise of the Eagle, and ROCK 92.3...

Gregg! You think you can get me 6.50?Huh
I'm getting a fever...and the only prescription may soon be to hit the airwaves agin.

So I guess Roger is doing some management stuff, too...
It was pretty lame to let Guttery leave. They should have given him that gig.
Lord knows he's put in the time and put up with a LOT of crap!
But, it probably pays less than 30K per year anyway.
I wouldn't put up with all that crap for that.

Nope...true radio guys are not in it for the $$!! There just aren't that many jobs that pay all that much.
Too many people willing to do it too cheap. (maybe to avoid ACTUAL work-that's kind of why I did it for so long) The only decent money is in the larger markets, and as a whole that money is going DOWN.

It's very admirable of you guys who are in it just for the love of radio.  There are a lot of great announcers in the area who pour their heart and soul into what they are doing and you would never imagine that they were underpaid from the tone in their voice.  My hat's off to them for lifting up the listeners day in and day out while at the same time struggling to make ends meet.  Great job guys (and gals) and thanks for allowing the rest of us to escape from our problems if only for a little while.

Hey Meep,
If you're serious, come talk to Don Elliott. He's the PD and handles all that stuff.  Wink I'll buy your lunch!

Well, radiofan,
I didn't mean to make it sound as though most radio people are in the cheese line each month or anything.
I simply meant to express the fact that if money were a PRIORITY for the average radio person, they probably wouldn't be in radio.
There are some talentless people not too far from here that make outrageous amounts of money when compared to their overall abilities. Also, there are many people near us whose talents and abilities far exceed the dollar amount they are paid.
Radio is very arbitrary and way too much of the level of success someone reaches has far too much to do with right place, right time, and politics, than it does with talent, ability, and loyalty.

Gregg...I may be interested.
E-mail me if you get time at

Couple of questions for you.
