B102 end of KKLS AM oldies?
« on: September 20, 2006, 12:44:17 PM »

This is just pure speculation: With oldies finally on an FM station in Rapid City do you think B102 will kill the oldies on KKLS-AM?   KKLS runs the Jones satellite format so the expenses for KKLS have to be as about as cheap as they can be.   So if KKLS sinks out of sight would Monterey pull the plug on oldies?

BTW B102 airing "The Lonely Bull" by Herb Alpert.  My gawd, when's the last time that was on the air in Rapid City?  (apart from my little fleapower part 15 FM)   Wink     Gotta love B102 for throwing away the oldies format "rulebook".

Jimbo - I won't speculate too much but I will say this - when you have 100k FM with that sound up against a small AM - I guess the old phrase "only time will tell" can be used here.

FYI - I read that Triad sold there RC properties to a company called Shurz Communications - so Monterey no longer in the picture, in fact I thinks that's why they were able to pick KIMM.

Back in the lovely state of ND looking forward to my next trip down south but that will be a while. If anyone gets word of B102 streaming please post it.....thanks.

Sometimes, a standalone AM can find a local niche and survive.  Even in an area where the dial is saturated with FM signals.

980/Deadwood, for example.
