I applied for a job at 'KOR in 1977 when moving down from Corinth for school. I only got a quick handshake amd "no openings" in the lobby from Chuck and Glen. I spent high school years listening to Memphis and Chicago radio and heard that 'KOR was the closest, and really wanted to work there. Instead, got on with Jimmy Eatherton at WACR-AM in Columbus and quit school. I would listen to Don Vaughan on the drive to Columbus every day. I worked with Don for a while when I was GM in Tupelo. I thought he was preaching.

I finally worked at 'KOR for 3 and a half years in the late 80's. The 'KOR legend was fading fast in '85 when I came back out of Texas to take over as PD when Dennis Hudson was GM. The goal was to move the KOR history over to the FM 92.1 and revitalize it. Didn't have much money, and sales rarely if ever broke even, so we were firing with blanks. But I sure had a good time! That many years later, I still got mail addressed to Bill Tanner.

Glen, the King of Rock poster was still there in the 80's, and I wanted it for posterity's sake. But I was gone by the time of the Country flip and move to Columbus.
