There was an excellent book published in the early 70s by Prentice-Hall entitled "Not Just A Sound...The History of WLW" which chronicles Powell Crosley's WLW beginnings up through the Avco era. If you can find that now outof print book at an auction, garage sale or used book store..more power to 'ya.

There's one on Ebay that ends at noon 11/1.  Search WLW.

There is a new book out about the Crosley brothers, written by someone locally.  They've been pushing it hard on WLW.

Clear Channel sold its radio/tv division to a private equity firm, thus once the sale is complete, Clear Channel will no longer be a publicly held company.  However it will continue to be managed by the Mays.  This was probably done partly due to Sarbanes-Oxley and partly due to the fact of the stock's lack of growth in recent years.
