Clear Channel to flip multiple stations in Atlanta
« on: October 31, 2006, 05:04:02 PM »

So if you read the post about the Regular Guys being setup by Clear Channel, then you put 2 and 2 together and realized that Clear Channel fired them to get out of their contracts. The reason this happened is because Clear Channel is about to flip 96 Rock! Mark my words. Several other stations are about to change as well at Clear Channel. This info is real and from a trusted media buyer in Atlanta. What will they come up with next!!! Maybe all the stations can be rude immigrants getting hard working, talented Americans fired from their jobs. Glad I don"t work in radio anymore!!!!!  Smiley

I had an account before when I was in radio but I forgot the password, is that OK?? The person I learned this info from is not a "friend", it's a media buyer in Atlanta. If you have ever been in a format change then you would know that the first person the station tells about the change is the clients,[EDIT]Remember I told you when you hear about the change. Cheesy

[EDIT--inflammatory.]

Yeahhhhh...why don't you go read Rodney's latest blog before you go bonkers on this board? We have enough nutcases without adding one more.

I came on here to give out some information that I learned today. I did not come on here to get harrassed by 22 year part time DJ's or to get called a nutcase. First off, sorry I'm not working at the 24 hour Atlanta radio news desk. That posting that you told me to look at came out minutes before you called me a nutcase, as if I were to have time to look at it that quick. 2nd, people should take some of this info more seriously, for example... I worked at a certain Atlanta radio station and had someone that I worked with at this radio station a few years before call me one day. She told me that she had been on radio-info.com that day and seen some info concerning the station I was working at getting flipped. I took her seriuosly and called my PD to clear up the "Rumors". When I called him at 6:15pm on my day off while doing yard work he told me that he could not comment on the station changes but he had been let go about 20 minutes before that. Take some of this stuff seriuosly, only some, it could mean your job. 3rd, Rodney Ho is not the radio info GOD. Everything he says is NOT true. He tried get in touch with our PD for months. PD gave no response and the Rodney Ho/AJC rumors kept coming. GET YOUR MIND RIGHTS FOLKS!!!! It is a cut throat business, not what it used to be.

It is kind of funny however that in that latest blog it does not mention anything about 96rock at the end.  It says Lite FM christmas, Randy & Spiff, The Buzz, Denny, and Kimmer will not change at the moment- but nothing about 96rock.  Probably nothing to look into.  It's going to be tough for 96 without The Regular Guys, but I hope CC chooses to make it work somehow.  Way too many great classic rock bands and songs would not be heard on Atlanta airwaves without 96rock.  The River hardly fills the void.

Okay, back to the live broadcast of Ghosthunters...

Media buyers aren't the first to know, or hear about a flip. Stations don't go around telling them they are about to change their formats. It's usually flip first, worry about the clients second. No one likes change, especially clients that have paid good money for a format they think will work for them. I DO think some changes are going to happen at CC Atlanta, but not during the fall book.
