The re-treaded retirement tax is said to have a new feature:  A fixed-rate tax somewhere between 10 and 20 percent on all contributions to pension or 401K plans above a certain dollar level per year.  Thinking is that anyone who can afford to salt away perhaps $5,000 per year for retirement has too much money and that's making the playing field "unlevel" for those contribute nothing or very little.
Though 20% might seem high it actually would be considerably less than the effective rate on higher salaries so it is hoped the tax would be greated with an "it could have been worse" sigh of relief by those upon whom it falls.

"...the tax cuts may have helped you," Hillary Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you.

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

- Hillary Clinton circa 2004

Yeah, they usually are.  If you ever find yourself in a desperate situation feel free to apply.  Luckily I don't have to, I am gainfully employed full time, at one of the top financial instituations worldwide...something like 3 trillion dollars in assets it has.  And before you try to get out some quick wit...no, I'm not in the mail room either Smiley

....You are in the financial services industry yet you were unaware that your federal income tax rate had been significantly reduced?
....You are in the financial services industry yet you say the soaring DOW is meaningless to your life.

It has everything to do with the topic of the thread.  You're too ignorant to know.

I can't be aware of something if it has not happened.  I have paid the same FICA tax for the past several years, has not changed because am not rich.

Republican Education 101 - When trying to put words into someone's mouth, make something outrageous up, that way it might make the Democrat look bad.

Could you please show me where I said that?  Oh, wait..you can't because I never did.

Hope your weekend is going nice and Democratic.
