no drinking on stage?  no beer?  no wine?  no Jager...?  dang the humanity of it all.  i only hope Old Port Wino doesn't happen upon this thread.  it would break his heart to know that he could have invited G n R to his quaint little box under the bridge for beverages and they, mayhaps, might've shown up.

of course - had G n R just done what every other act there does - drink out of the plastic Red frat-party cups, all would have been well.

methinks that the "no drinking" thing was their way to bag out of a half-sold show - most likely "any opening to scoot, let's take it." and they did.

GnR claims it was the fire marshalls...the fire marshalls say it was GnR. GnR claims harrassment...the fire marshalls say there was no harrassment of any kind. They want bottled alcohol on stage...they are told they can have it in containers but not bottles. Only half of the available tickets for the venue were sold and some people say that may have been the final straw...  The one fact that stands out most of all is that Axl has not been traveling with the band for the entire tour...he has been flying on a different plane the whole time. His plane never left the state of New York where he played the night before. Axl never planned on playing Portland...he never even boarded to leave New York...and most important...this isn't the first time he's done it on this tour, what where the excuses then.  He topped off the entire fiasco by greeting the fans at the DCU center in Worcester Mass as "hello Portland" then went on to bore the crowd with a sub par performance and faded attempts at respectful silence and even started a fire in the middle of the stage. It is so embarrassing that an over the hill has been like Axl Rose can go on clouded in his dillusions of grandure and rock star wannabe status while his former bandmates can sound so good with a lead singer that has never been able to stay straight enough to drive a bargain never mind a tour. Goodbye GnR...we'll always have the appetite even if it is shrouded in destruction.

Wow, Maximum Noise.  To steal a line from Blazing Saddles...

"You use your tongue purtier than a twenty-dollar whore."

I agree with EVERYTHING you just said.

Bummer.  Someone mentioned GNR aint GNR without Slash .  That statement is so true.  Izzy was a big part of the band too ...Axl & Izzy had the vison to put together one of the meanest/guitar riffy bands in L.A. at a time when hair bands were the big thing.  Wouldn't put GNR in the hair band  category .  I'm a fan of the band .  It became apparent that GNR was headed for disater some 16 years ago when original Steven Adler was cut immediately after Farm Aid 1990 and   Izzy leaving  before the release of Use Your Illusions 1&2 .  The band unfortunately is washed up...in my opinion .  Gilby & Matt Sorum are great players dont get me wrong ...would like to see those two in the line up along with Slash ..venues/promoters would be happy indeed .

By the way ...how goes it ?    I'm just another APD/Jock in the Midwest  sluffing off on a message board

That someone would be me.  However I would have to say the same about Axl, sour grapes though he may create.
