This month, "KTLA Morning News" marked its 14th anniversary.  It spawned imitators nationwide and competitors locally.

Who has the best morning newscasts in your market?  The worst?  Who should get in the game, and who should just quit?

KTVU's Mornings on 2 is the best morning Newscast in the bay area.

KTTV FOX 11's Good Day L.A. is the absolute worst. You can tell Steve Edwards just wants to plug his ears with dynamite and light the fuse rather than listen to the caterwauling that goes on and on and on and on his left and his right.

For my tastes, there's no beating KTVU's Mornings on 2 - it could easily hold its own as the best morning newscast originating from the west coast. Better news delivery, less banter, more meaningful information, concise, to-the-point, etc.

KTLA 5's Morning News is very watchable, but tends to constantly tweak with its format and re-invent things. A little heavier on the banter and goofy side, but just enough to still maintain some semblance of credibility. Their latest graphics package is crisp, clean, and professional appearing, and seems somewhat similar to KTVU's. But beware of the dreaded 9:00am news hour on KTLA! Way too focused on "filler" and fluff, and not enough emphasis on harder news. Of course, next to KTTV's Good Day LA program, KTLA seems top-notch.

KTTV Fox 11's morning news show is nothing short of a disaster & daily train wreck. It's not even remotely entertaining. It's pretty unwatchable. They really should just quit rather than putting out the sad, tired, awful product that they seem relegated to generating.

Sacramento has three morning shows: The more news oriented show on KQCA-58 called "KCRA News On KQCA 58" and two more talk show oriented shows on CBS owned KMAX-CW 31 called "Good Day Sacramento" and on Tribune owned KTXL-Fox 40 called "Fox 40 Live". Of the three shows, Good Day Sacramento is clearly the leader since they were the first to air. (in 1995) KQCA's show is a mixed bag. KQCA started out 1995 (after Good Day Sacramento) with the Morning News then a year later simply simulcasted a radio talk show called "Armstrong & Getty" from KSTE-650 then it was back to the news around 2006. Fox 40 Live is the Johnny Come Lately show. It debuted in 2008.

The Armstrong & Getty simulcast ended in April, 2007, but your'e kinda wrong that KQCA had the morning news in 1995, they do have the 10 PM news, but mostly, their morning news started circa 1998 when then Hearst Argyle was about to purchase KCRA/KQCA and then around 2002, Armstrong & Getty moved and airs on KQCA 58. Though they no longer simulcast A&G, KFTY Channel 50 started simulcasting that show after they dumped their morning news in 2006. In May 2005, FOX 40 launched their morning news simply entitled "FOX 40 Morning News" then anchored by Jennifer Parker who hosted until her maternity leave in December 2006, then when Jen Parker moved back to her family business, Natalie Bomke and Evan Michael took over the morning show and around September 2007, Rosemary Orozco (the CA Lottery annoucer who took over in 2009 replacing Stacy Anderson) and former KEYT Santa Barbara Morning anchor came to join the show. In 2008 Joe Orlando swtiched from weekends to mornings trading spots with Rick Boone and on September 8, 2008 FOX 40 Morning News revamped to FOX 40 live and changed the set to look more nice than their old longtime set which lasted for over 15 years. But IMO, nobody will ever beat GDS since it's the original show that pioneered the morning format.
