The '80s on Tom Kent's Monday-Friday show
« on: December 15, 2006, 07:25:44 PM »

I heard that KQRN in Vinton, IA airs Tom Kent's 'Hall Of Fame Coast To Coast'--more specifically, weeknights.  Apparently, there's a new '80s segment with a song featured by John 'Records' Lydecker (I think that's his name is).  I think that segment has a better place on TK's Sunday show, 'Into the '70s' request show, or--better yet--spinning it off into an '80s all-request show!  Also, come the new year, HOFC2C will be renamed 'Classic Top 40'

John "Records" Landecker and Tom Kent are both tremendous talents from the golden age of Classic Top 40 radio.  I have tapes of both on WLS, recorded in the late 1970s-early 1980s.

So John's last name is Landecker?  Glad to clear that up.  Personally, I think a TKO-produced 1980s request show hosted by Mr. Landecker would make more sense than just being a guest on the Classic Top 40 show--and Tom Kent should more '50s and early '60s as opposed to the '80s....

Yep, and that's his real name.  In the late 1970s, he went by "John Landecker, Records truly is my middle name."  And it was.  John Records Landecker was his legal name given at birth.  I remember him talking about it on WLS when I was just a kid and nighttime AM skywave was "magic" to me.
