KTOK Afternoon drive #4 total audience
« on: March 18, 2007, 02:36:32 AM »

The Show they call "VPM" on News Radio 1000 KTOK in afternoon drive jumped to #4 in 12+ #'s....also the chat in the area says htey tripled their 18-34 #'s as well.....the new guy they hired Gerry V Hosts the Show.
Checked it out.Very entertaining .....funny and some solid talk debates.Nice new show in the Oklahoma City market.KTOK looks like it wants to strengthen itself in the market with a solid show.Attracting a younger audience to go with the one they have.Very good show. Much needed in OKC.

Gerry V Too Good To Be True

Gerry V came with the Hornets when they temporarily moved to town through their
broadcast agreement.  This is only temporary unless by some BIG SURPRISE CC
kicks up the cash to try and make him stay.   If his contract has changed and
someone knows more let us know.  Otherwise he's not here for the long haul.

While numbers look great, this town has abandoned any real local talent on Talk.

WKY ABANDONED THEIR FORMAT
KOKC ABANDONED THEIR TALK TO SYNIDCATION
KTOK WILL ABANDONED LOCAL TALK AFTER GERRY LEAVES.

What I can't believe is that NO FORMER LOCAL TALK GUYS have even tried to
venture into doing their shows via INTERNET!  It's crazy!  What an opportunity!

But as with anything else, you have to do it right.
That means advertising, (barter)
Sell time slots as you would normally do in your show
Hire 2 Sales people at the level of commission only
And most importantly build out your own studio.

EMBRACE THE TECHNOLOGY PEOPLE!!!!  IT'S HERE!

The one that does take the chance will win big in this town if they do it right.

Okay..I'm off my soapbox now.
Your going to miss me when I'm gone    Grin

I asked the same question.I was told CC wants him to continue the show ( gaining in popularity and they want his personality on the air) They will have him work from another studio in N. Orl or set up and ISDN line for him.
I understand he does the show from different CC studios when he travels with the team. It was also mentioned that he will make trips back and forth between April-Oct at times working out of the Oak City Studio.
Good news for us in Oaklahoma City.......rumor has it that in time they flip KTOK to one of the FM signals.
When ?? I have no idea.

Wow..that IS a rumor.  I haven't heard that one.  That would be cool though.
Talk on FM.  And In Oklahoma City!   Move over NPR   Tongue
The only thing I heard was some sort of transition to a much higher power on the AM
Through some sort of sell off deal and down to the right on the dial.  But that deal
has been in process and will probably never happen in our lifetime.   Grin
