WBLM-How Bogus can you Get!
« on: July 16, 2005, 02:31:20 PM »

I was listening to BLM this afternoon and caught their promo for their listener cruise on Casco Bay.  The listener cruise COSTS the listener $20, but they proudly proclaim "you get a free lobster".  COME AGAIN?  If the listener has to PAY the lobster's NOT FREE.  How about the lobster costs $12 and the listener is also paying $8 to get on the LISTENER CRUISE.  And why do I think I have to PAY again to have a beer on the cruise from your sponsor? Of course, and I degress, this is the same station that promotes in "plays five in a row".  WOW!  Why would anyone promote five in a row?

Here's a thought.....how about you give away 100 tickets, FREE, and treat your listeners to a lobster cruise???  It would definitely make WBLM come across better and your sponsor's come across better.

Herb, you are the Program Director right?  How is this junk on the air and reflecting poorly on your station?

Ha! That's hilarious.  Even if they charged $1.02 it wouldn't have been nearly as lame.  Even I can afford $1.02!

When does Mark Persky start on The Other Station?  Must be tense times over at Citadel!

Too bad. I still do often listen to WBLM, and I have loved that station in the past. You're right though, they are getting way too phony both with promotions (as listed above), and programming. I think their programming/audio (liners, etc) sounds like something you'd hear when a child pushes a button on their "Play School" toy....nothing but crappy, senseless audio! Advice for BLM: have a good time, make it interesting and clever, but please- DON'T SOUND SO DAMN FAKE!

I think that liner on the bone is correct at this moment, "As you get older, you also get softer." Sadly, that's what I am hearing out of the 100,000 watt, well known, classic rock flame thrower.

Best,
Lenny

Have there been budget cuts at Citadel?I haven't noticed any patio concerts this year from any of their stations.
