I'm sure he's a nice guy, but Virgin's columns are a complete bore. Look around the country and you'll find blog owners/newspaper writers that break radio news before it happens and fills the reader in on the grumblings around the different stations. All we get with Virgin is a fluff piece along with who we can expect to hear on Introvert Northwest, or whatever the hell its called. I want to find out how long Entercom plans on keeping the End on life support before it pulls the plug or what Marcus D plans on doing to fix his sinking station. Don't get me wrong some of his articles are a good read, but the majority of them stink.

With all due respect here .... his audience is NOT the eleven air-heads (myself included) who read the dribble that is posted HERE.  By comparison his columns contain about 25000% more SUBSTANCE than the "KISW sucks" "they suck more" "wolf is HOT KMPS sucks" and "Movin' is cool the rest of you guys are idiots" horsepoop that we have to cope with around here.  Bill is trying to address the masses who MIGHT still give a crap about what's on the radio, new programs, etc.  it's not intended to be a venue to address the press-stopping necrophilia-loving topics that I identified above.

I think he does a great job.  And for the effort that the stations listed at the bottom (public affairs) invest every week to create those shows (even if just a throw-away to keep license on the table), it's at least nice that they have a venue to promote those shows.  Their own stations won't even allocate any air time to promoting those things.

Lighten up.

Virgin's not specifically a dedicated weekly 'Radio-Market Reporter' - if you catch my drift...

What the P-I or Times really need is ANOTHER 'Chuck Taylor', who used to make it a thrill
in reading his radio columns from the Times over a decade ago because of his efforts to
become good friends with those in the business and include many great quotes -
- the 'Charlie Brown Retires' article from '97 comes to mind...

Chuck also wrote many articles re 'aerospace' with the Times at the same time; he was just too good,
thus moving on to 'Seattle Weekly' - and now right here:

You can run and rant, but the P-I now regulates Virgin.
