no plaza ads on kdwn? anymore
« on: July 12, 2005, 10:08:40 PM »

I heard larry manetti (magnum PI's side kick or significant other?.. just joking) promote the plaza on the hiway stations..and it dawned on me that I havn't heard plaza ads on kdwn for a while...I know they are going to split the sheets early next year...maybe the plaza wants to disassociate themselves from kdwn's geritol demo early??

I saw Manetti has a book about the show..if it is in the library I might read it...don't have a life

KDWN's contract with the plaza expires in April 2006. The new owners have decided they won't renew their contract. KDWN's owner A.J. Williams died a few months ago. The only hotel ads currently running are the Stardust hotel.

The plaza hotel wants to distance itself from KDWN because they claim the station is hurting their business.

The plaza hotel is striving to appeal to hispanics by creating a hispanic themed hotel in the next few years.

Barrick Gaming are the new plaza owners. They say Mark Edwards "Wake Up America" show is racist and anti-immigrant.

Several hispanic groups were outside the plaza hotel are protesting the hotel and KDWN radio's Mark Edwards.

The new owners say they're losing business and want to appeal to minorities but KDWN AM 720 puts them in a bad light and takes up much valuable space inside the plaza where they can build another lounge or more rooms.

Barrick just sold the property, so this really puts KDWN in limbo.  Tamares, the invesment firm that backed Barrick has just taken control.

About 6 Months ago I became "Friends" with the CEO, Stephen Crystal. From a simple  Plaza Ad on the Highway Stations, to Full Comps & a Suite the size of a House at the Las Vegas Club, Crystal was really cool. Then my last stay in May at the Plaza was Disgusting, and I told him so. Never heard back from him again!

Wrong Barrick News!

I think your observation is flawed. It was Barrick's Western Hotel that was to be converted into a Spanish theme Hotel, to attract Hispanics. All plans are off, including your current Post!
