On April 28th, 2011, KTRU (A.K.A. Rice Radio), the campus radio station of Rice University in Houston, TX signed off of their 91.7 FM frequency. The student-run radio station had been around for 40 years, and featured a variety of eclectic programming.
Rice University sold the 91.7 FM frequency and license to the University of Houston, along with KTRU's 91.5 FM translator (K218DA). Rice Radio will continue to broadcast online, and on KPFT's (90.1 FM) HD2 signal. A new Classical music format with the callsign KUHA will launch on 91.7 FM in the near future.
Here is a clip of the last 15 minutes of Rice Radio on 91.7 FM. I have to say, it's one of the most interesting signoffs I've ever heard. You can listen to / download the clip here: http://www.mediafire.com/?50ln5h59697a850
