The WKYE/WBCV Tribute Page
« on: June 11, 2007, 08:04:05 PM »

I'd like to talk about The WKYE/WBCV Tribute Page (sammyreed.com/wkyewbcv.htm). I mentioned it before, but now I'd like to give it a separate thread.
I have added the rest of the 1980 Chris Lee airchecks I have from May, 1980 - WKYE's last month as a secular station.
I posted a "Big 6 High School Football Report" with "Jimbo" Widener from 1984, and a short aircheck of my dad, Cecil Reed, from 1987.

I just added 2 airchecks of WKYE as a country station from 1974, with "The Silver Dollar Kid"!

I just added the last show of the 1985 season for Jimbo Widener's "Big 6 High School Football Review".

I recently got an E-mail from Chuck Lawson, who gave some interesting insight on WKYE's last year as a rock station. He has graciously allowed me to share his story on the page! I have it under "WKYE goes gospel".

Got any pictures or station trinkets you can post to your site?   Trinkets such as bumper stickers, window decals, pictures of t-shirts w/station logo?  Pictures of facility, studios, offices, that sort of thing?

I collected, and dubbed, airchecks and other audio. I didn't get any logo-related material. Sorry.

No biggie.  Just asked.  You'll never know unless you ask.  What you got in terms of airchecks are cool.  Smiley

I now have excerpts from an E-Mail sent in by Scott Spangler, and have added 2 more "Big 6 High School Football Review" shows from 1987!
... which begs the question: Was 1987 a winless year for Sullivan East, or what was their win-loss record? Anyone out there know?

After a few months of not having the "Radio Stuff" feature on my website, I'm glad to announce that it's back!
I have added airchecks from my dad's last few weeks with WBCV in 2005.
