In the summer of 79, at the peak of the disco craze, I attended YMCA Camp Minikani in Hubertus. I will always remember that one night they had a "Disco Polka"...Only in Wisconsin!

The fact that Infinity is not in the market is probably one of the reasons Milwaukee does not have a Jack type station. Infinity has flipped more stations to Jack than any other company. But other broadcasters are joining in the variety hits trend/fad as well. The Brew is doing too well to change. Even if many oldies stations are flipping to Jack, WRIT will not because it would hurt the Brew. Jack could be a good option for stations like WMYX or WLUM.

I for one would be sad to see WFMR flip.  Not only that, Milwaukee seems to have a pretty strong "arts" community, which would warrant keeping the format intact.

In yesterday's paper Cuprisin had a whole article on the "jack" format issue. I have to agree with him. "Jack" is a flavor of the month format. Basically an ipod with commercials.I don't think there is anything wrong with a floumdering station trying it, but for a JMK or CBS-fm to throw away a loyal litener base for a flash in the pan format.... man, guess the bean counters know what they are doing. In a "jack" format you don't have to pay jocks cause there ain't none... don't you people who are still in the biz worry about this??

That's what people said about WYMS, too.  Now Milwaukee won't have a jazz station for much longer.  Classical could very well be on the block if any one wanted to make a JACK move.

Clear Channel's oldies WRIT-FM will be Jacked.
