101.5 has a HAAT of 329meters and 94.9 is only 298 meters. Kicks has really steped up with the real competition.

That's a negligible difference in coverage.

I guess I have to disagree with everyone here because I think "the big 101-5" is smart.  It gives Kicks a way to freshen itself without really changing anything.  To say "new" would imply that Kicks was getting hurt by The Bull and needed to change.  Big also connotes importance.  A number of stations have imaged with Big, including WSIX in Nashville (The Big 98), CKLW (The Big Eight), WLW (The Big One), WAPE in Jacksonville (The Big Ape).  And there are others.

Kicks still positions itself as "today's country hits," and "big" doesn't take away from that.  And as one of the posts above said, signal is not an issue between Kicks and The Bull.  The difference is negligible.

And don't forget about 92.5/The Bear on the Southside. Actually, with Lite gone, there is a possible opening for another AC station.

Lite FM is in fact not gone, but now resides on 96.7 or www.967litefm.com where they stream.

to add to this: Biggest Hits, biggest stars, biggest concerts, biggest events etc.  seems like it fits just fine

I agree with Roddy.  Infact, the morning show used to be "The New" Kicks Morning Show.  I find it interesting that they dropped the "new" and became "Atlanta's Country Morning Show" right about the time there were rumors of the Bull.  Very smart - to get rid of any reference of "new".

Regarding Roddy's comments a couple of posts back - I don't see how a station can "freshen itself" without
changing anything.  Over 30 years ago I was associated with a radio station that did exactly that - mgmt
would routinely rename day parts and change promo lines without actually changing programming.  It was
the same old worn-out stuff except with a new name.  I believe today's listener is sophisticated enough to
recognize "garbage in/garbage out" no matter what slogan you hang on it.
