Classic Rock 92 & 100.3/The Buzzard
« on: July 21, 2007, 01:34:55 AM »

What is your opinion of Classic Rock 92 (WKRR/Asheboro - rock92.com) & 100.3 - Real Rock - The All New Buzzard (buzzardrocks.com)?

How much of the Buzzard is all new?

How do you think they would do in the Charlotte mkt?

At least they have variety.

Thanks

At one time Rock 92 was as good as RDU (The rock version).  I don't know what happened to them.  They have a signal that can be heard in Charlotte and Raleigh, so they should be good.  However, they went to the same limited playlist as much classic rock stations today.  The Buzzard is not that great an active rocker.  If they got rid of JB&B, it might be better, but we know CC won't let that happen.  For active rock, The planet is hands down 10 times better than the buzzard.

How can you try to say you're an active rocker when you're running JB&B?

The Buzzard hasn't been "All New" in 2 years and they are now a classic rock station (unfortunately).

Yes, and they were never "active rock". That's 106.5 The End.

The Buzzard reined things in after Janet Jackson's Super Bowl shindig. They used to play at least SOME new music and had some real T&A themed promotions. Now they are classic rock with the boobs strictly on the website. I have no freaking idea why they keep JB&B and are happy to get trounced in AM Drive by the Chris's.

I think I'd have to call the Buzzard Mainstream, not Classic. I do hear 21st century artists on there and a few currents and recurrents. They do lean Classic though.

Hey ShoNuff,

Their website stills says they're still "The All New Buzzard".

Hey ManWhore,

Agreed, they are more Classic Rock now, even though FMQB, AllAccess, R&R & Arbitron have their format as "Rock".

Hey VChimpanzee,

IMHO, 93.3./The Planet is the Active Rocker in Charlotte!

amfmradio1 -- just came from the Buzzard's website -- there are alot of scantily clad women but NO mention of "All New" . The new moniker is "Just Rock"

ShoNuff,

If you go to radio-locator.com, you'll see that they're monikered "The All New Buzzard".

There's some confusion there - their webmaster should make the two websites consistent.
