Barnes' act was old at 99x.

Dave is not AAA enough for real fans of AAA radio and it's too disjointed musically for the typical Atlantan button pusher.

Perhaps it will bounce back.

I'm sure the suits are arguing over how to lean the station. Hard to take a chance with a 100kw stick like this, but the market DID react...it's just not enough to keep 'em...throw the audience a bone, Dave!

I agree that the playlists seems older than the final days of Z. Playing new Knopfler songs may make it seems they play newer hits but it is an old sound. It doesn't matter what the stats show if us listeners think it is older. Perception is reality.

Unless the DJ is the also the music director, it's not (nor has it ever been) their job to ""play what they think will work"...you can't fault anyone at dave for that. It's just the natural cycle of radio.

Like it or not, research, ratings, and money ultimately decide what gets played on ANY stations air waves.

I, for one, enjoy Dave's playlist. It really fits in to my day very well. It almost seems like they read the mood of the city when they draw up the play list every day. If it's raining or whatever, they'll play rainy day songs...etc...

This I did not know. Regardless, it is not the MD's responsibility to play "what THEY want". Sure, Margot knows her music (and is a very good jock), but that doesn't automatically give license to play what SHE wants. Although I'm sure that if she did, there would probably be a lot less complaining about dave's format and play list.
