It's not a flip, it's a name change to FRESH.  They are doing a music test on the air. It's the same songs they have been playing.

im just amazed they actually changed the name of star. you can only call something the "new star" if it's new.

so...congrats to beasley for changing the name of star. that in itself is a great accomplishment to them, and i can actually see the name change helping their cause.

Putting a new name on the same old thing won't make any difference.

Unbelievable!!!!  These guys just don't get it.  THEY ARE STILL PLAYING COMMERCIALS!!

If I was a client, I'd be really pissed if I got charged for a spot during their "music test".

Their website has the slogan "Today's Soft music" and a picture of clouds that looks like they are going to directly compete against SUNNY. But the music on their test is not especially soft. It's the same music they have been playing, closer to KMXB than KSNE.

I heard a promo voiced by the station's PD that says that they will just play today's "freshest" music without the old tired songs that Sunny has played to death; and without the hard teen pop that Mix plays.

That might be great, if that's what they do.  But if it's just the same old Star with a new name, forgive me if I seem bored.

Type in www.fresh1027.com...you get NYC's station for "Today's Soft Music - Fresh 102.7"  How is Vegas' Fresh going to differentiate themselves from New York's Fresh on the web, since the station in New York has the web address locked up?  Same format, same moniker/handle, same frequency, but different cities.

If I were at the station, I would be charging double. I have run on air tests... one I did in LA 8 years ago still is commented on by listeners. It was a terrific attention getter.
