Sounds like the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig, doesn't it?
I actually like the new graphics they're using, in addition to the music. But I don't think Channel 8 is as bad as some people claim. They've had their share of problems recently, but they've taken care of a lot of the technical problems (FINALLY!), and I think things at WTNH are stablizing. People are actually sticking around for much longer, and I believe it's the familiar faces that keep people watching, at least that's how I feel.
NBC30 is the one going down the tubes now. Every day, a different person gone, and always another less-than-stellar newbie showing up. Maybe things will clear up after they settle into their new building. While I'm at it, FOX61 could use an update or two, but I think things are looking up for them. Not only are they the only Hartford-area station still headquartered in the city of Hartford, they're debuting a new morning show this spring. They have a lot going for them, and the potential is there to give the rest of the market a run for their money. Finally, I think WFSB has turned into a maginificent station. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but the person(s) running the show is doing one heck of a job. Everything at that station, at least on-the-air, seems perfect. The personalities all get along, they're fun to watch, they do a lot for the community, and they're all very professional, yet not stuffy/politically-correct like you see at the network level. Their Christmas Concert was a riot, and their Connecticut Home show is like no other in this market. Living in SWCT I'll probably always be a loyal Channel 8 viewer, but I like to use my remote-control to switch back and forth, and Channel 3 has also won me over.
