New Member of the Forecasters on 3-TV!
« on: January 06, 2008, 09:26:28 PM »

Did anyone catch the new member of the Forecasters this weekend?  Her name is Brittany Shipp (sp?).  They introduced her as the new weekend weather person.  She was very pleasant, although ridiculously overdressed for the live shots from the horse riding ranch on Saturday.  She also said that her younger brother plays b-ball for the Sun Devils.

Brittany Shipp has been on for 3 weekends. She's from Yuma. I think she's been doing a good job so far. No mention of her on 3TV website, which is ridiculous in 2008 media.

Once they start shooting new 3TV Forecasters videos, I wonder what they are going to do with Brad Perry. There was a new commercial for Wildlife World Zoo with just Royal and April. I thought that was the end of Brad. Then there was a new Fiesta Bowl parade spot with Brad. They still show old videos with R.A.B. I thought they would keep Brad as a Forecaster because I'm sure he's going to fill in at times. And is April also taking over GDAZ?

I was on vacation for the past two weekends so I guess I missed Brittany's formal introduction.  They must have been introducing her to Dr. Art (who apparently was also on vacation the past couple of weekends).  I wasn't sure where she was from, but I told a friend of mine that she probably came from Yuma!  It's amazing how many markets newscaster can skip these days!

BTW,  April was on GDAZ this morning.  As for Brad, they are advertising him as a roving am reporter now on the website.  (There's a place to click if you would like Brad to visit your business!).  They really still need Brad as backup on weather, if one of the others is off.  But it seems that Brittany will just eventually replace Brad on the Forecasters ads (still B.A.R.!)

Brittany's first Saturday she told Tess that she was from Yuma. Not 100% sure, but I think last weekend was her first being in studio so she probably didn't meet Dr. Art (BTW my personal physician) until then.

I think they should keep Brad as an official Forecaster. They always need backup. When (Lil) Kim Dillon moved from ABC15 there were commercials with B.A.R.K.  Cool

But it seems that Brittany will just eventually replace Brad on the Forecasters ads (still B.A.R.!)

I'm sure Mr. Norman will insist that it's R.A.B!  Cheesy

I don't remember seeing Kim and April both in the Forecasters ads.  But, I really only watch GMAZ weekends on 3-TV so I may not have noticed.

Saw a commercial this morning with Royal, April and Brittney (Shipp, correctly spelling since 3-TV finally updated their website).
No Brad, which in my opinion is a mistake since he will no doubt fill in for weather from time to time.
Her bio doesn't mention if Brittney is going back to school to become a Meteorologist, like April. Not that it necessarily matters. Doing some light Wikipedia research shows to get an AMS seal of approval you don't need a degree. That is being phased out. The newer Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal is now the standard and you need a degree for that. Similarly, in the Air Force, we call our Weapons School graduates 'Patch-Wearers' since they get a unique emblem that they wear on their uniforms.  Cool

My first thought when I saw Brittany Shipp on 3-tv was that I wonder if she is related in any way to NFL player Marcel Shipp?  Does anyone know?

3TV further updated their website, getting rid of most of the Brad Forecaster pictures and replacing him with Brittney. There are some smaller pictures (ask a Forecaster and Upcoming Events) that still have Brad on them. Plus there is a new Phoenix Suns commercial featuring Royal/April/Brittney.
